Artist Statement

The power of documents in shaping identity

Using my own passport and suitcase as central symbols, this piece weaves together animated planes, stamp-like imagery from family moments, and a moving visa photo to reflect the layered experience of displacement.

An accompanying interactive installation invites viewers to confront the power of documents in shaping identity — asking them to judge me solely by my passport. This one-sided gaze echoes Judith Butler's critique of whose lives are seen, valued, or rendered invisible within political and bureaucratic systems.
