About the Production

Jegar-e Khob (meaning "Good Liver" in Persian) is a contemporary play co-directed by Elmira Jafari and Samaneh Gazar, performed at the Silver Spring Black Box Theatre in Maryland in March 2024. The production brought together Iranian artists living in the United States, creating an intimate and culturally resonant theatrical experience for the Iranian diaspora community.

Design Approach

The costume design for this production drew on the emotional and cultural layers of the text — grounding characters in a recognizable contemporary Iranian aesthetic while serving the intimate scale of the Black Box venue. Each costume was designed to feel lived-in and personal, reinforcing the play's themes of memory, identity, and displacement.
