Paintings and Mixed Media
Patterns repeat in a predictable manner | 2020-2021
The artworks in this collection are inspired by social and personal events. The pattern of men’s and women’s clothing as social epidemic habits such as patriarchy or segregation in public transportation such as the subway in the form of repetitive and simulated behaviors are institutionalized in individuals; for example, the dominance of the male coat pattern over images of women or the censorship of the female body by the male coat pattern. Conceptually, this collection is completed with articles from clothing magazines.
Through stitches | 2018-2021
In this collection, faces of relatives and friends are painted on small wooden panels that are either buried under a mixture of materials or sewn into the fabric. Through Stitches is a visual representation of the memory and influence of the characters that enter my life and somehow remain in my mind or are buried under the layers of oblivion, but they always exist, because they are attached to my life.
Sew My Clothes | 2019-2020
The artworks in this collection include collages from clothing magazines along with paper and pattern guide maps. In these works, the perspective of the model and its ideological meaning has become more prominent. In such a way that the patterns have become forms of clothing patterns between daily life and the structure of education.
A pattern is not a shape | 2020
The idea for this collection is to review family photos. Since photographs carry the property of the death of time, both in the realm of history and everyday life, traces of today’s formal principles can be found in the patterns that govern relationships or situations in some photographs. Based on my perception of looking at the photos, along with what I heard or knew about the subjects, I included them among the patterns of the costumes, the descriptions, and guidelines of the pattern to indicate how the people in the image communicate.
Skein | 2017-2018
This collection consists of works related to my master’s degree and my dissertation. In Skein, yarns or sewing threads are wrapped around figures and connected to each other, like a spool of yarn that is twisted in itself. This collection is a representation of the feeling of belonging, attachment, and “being in the heart of others”.
